are you really back now? i've missed your work.
:iconmadhs:
I think I am... : )
The formats I'm working with right now aren't *that* conducive to digital posts; thus the long silence.

I love using news as a background. It's nice ad subtle here. To me it's always appropriate because it represents time, today, the "now," chaos, what the world has come to, basically everything. I also just like the texture decoupage gives a surface. Nice work

...and yaaaay, delighted to see that you are back.

No trees were killed in the sending of this message.
However, a large number of electrons were terribly
agitated.

Nifty!

What to do you use to affix the newspaper on the canvas? Do you coat the newspaper with something before you paint on it?

so do I, but it's tricky surface to work on. Still worth the trouble though! More then a decoupage, this was a painting surface built with newspaper and fibre paste.
I've been dropping by your gallery during this time, and I especially like the SPM series. Good work there.
:iconmadhs:
glue and modelling paste, and then fibre paste to amp up the paper texture.
:iconmadhs:
good to be back... but lets see if it continues. Most of the painting work isn't conducive to digital posts, so this is a hesitant return to the place it all started. : )

aha!

Taking photos of paintings does kinda suck (as does very large inkwork, even worse in my experience), but I dont think the photo quality on this is bad at all. Nicely textured. It seems traditional paintings often have a tactile quality that is lost in all the smooth pixels. Nothing like seeing and maybe even touching a piece.
